Frequently Asked Questions

911 Nurses GTA is a Canadian, nurse-owned healthcare staffing agency providing qualified healthcare professionals to hospitals, long-term care homes, retirement communities, home care organizations, clinics, Indigenous communities, public health organizations, and government agencies across Canada.

Our mission is to improve access to healthcare by connecting exceptional professionals with the communities that need them most—including rural, remote, and underserved areas.

We provide many different services: travel nursing, last minute/per diem shift pickup, home support, rural/remote support, security guards and more.

At 911 Nurses GTA, we believe staffing is about more than simply filling a shift—it's about building lasting partnerships. Whether you're a healthcare facility experiencing staffing shortages or a family seeking compassionate home support, we work alongside you to understand your needs and deliver the right care at the right time.

Our goal is to provide dependable healthcare professionals who not only meet your staffing requirements but also contribute to quality outcomes, continuity of care, and a positive experience for those receiving care. We understand that every client is unique, which is why we take the time to develop personalized solutions rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach.

When you partner with 911 Nurses GTA, you benefit from:

  • Accreditation Canada accreditation, demonstrating our commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Nurse-owned leadership, bringing firsthand clinical knowledge and an understanding of the challenges facing today's healthcare system.
  • 24/7 staffing and care coordination, ensuring support is available whenever you need it.
  • Rapid response staffing for urgent, short-term, and ongoing workforce needs.
  • Expertise in rural, remote, and underserved communities, helping organizations overcome difficult recruitment challenges.
  • An extensive network of experienced travel healthcare professionals ready to support communities across Canada.
  • Comprehensive credential verification and compliance processes, giving clients confidence in every healthcare professional we place.
  • Flexible staffing solutions, from a single shift to long-term contracts, ongoing home support, and large-scale workforce solutions.
  • Personalized service, with dedicated recruiters and coordinators who take the time to understand your goals and remain your point of contact throughout our partnership.

Whether we're supporting a hospital through an unexpected staffing shortage, helping a long-term care home maintain continuity of care, or assisting a family so their loved one can remain safely at home, our commitment remains the same: to be a trusted partner delivering compassionate, reliable, and high-quality healthcare staffing and home care solutions that improve lives and strengthen communities.

Our onboarding process is designed to ensure that every healthcare professional meets our quality, compliance, and client standards before being considered for assignments. Since every profession has different licensing, education, and regulatory requirements, the onboarding process is customized based on your role, professional credentials, certifications, and the types of healthcare settings you wish to work in.

Once you apply, a member of our recruitment team will review your application and provide you with a personalized onboarding checklist outlining the documents and credentials required for your profession. Throughout the process, our team is available to answer questions and support you until your file is complete.

After all required documentation has been received, reviewed, and approved, you will become part of the 911 Nurses GTA candidate pool. Being part of our candidate pool means you are eligible to be considered for current and future opportunities that match your qualifications, experience, availability, preferred locations, and career goals.

Each week, we send communications highlighting available assignments across our service areas, including hospitals, long-term care homes, retirement communities, home care, community programs, and rural and remote healthcare settings. In addition, one of our recruiters may contact you directly when an assignment aligns with your skills, experience, and preferences.

Please note that completing onboarding does not guarantee immediate placement or employment. Assignment opportunities are dependent on client demand, your availability, licensing requirements, and the specific qualifications requested by our clients. We encourage all healthcare professionals to keep their availability and credentials up to date so we can quickly connect them with opportunities as they become available.

Accommodation and travel arrangements vary by assignment and client requirements. Details are discussed during the recruitment process.

Travel nursing offers healthcare professionals the opportunity to take temporary assignments in communities where additional clinical support is needed. These assignments can range from a few weeks to several months and may be available in hospitals, long-term care homes, community healthcare settings, and rural or remote communities across Canada. Travel nursing is an excellent way to gain diverse clinical experience, explore different parts of the country, and make a meaningful impact where healthcare professionals are in high demand.

The best way to position yourself for a travel assignment is to be fully prepared before opportunities become available. We recommend completing your onboarding as early as possible and ensuring all required documents are current and readily available. This includes maintaining up-to-date professional credentials, certifications, immunizations, and any other compliance requirements related to your profession.

It is also important to hold an active professional licence in the province where you wish to work. Many travel opportunities require candidates to already be licensed in the province of the assignment, so obtaining additional provincial licences can significantly increase the number of opportunities available to you.

Once your onboarding is complete, you will become part of the 911 Nurses GTA candidate pool. We regularly send communications featuring available travel assignments, and our recruitment team will contact you directly when opportunities match your qualifications, experience, preferred locations, and availability.

Travel assignments can become available quickly, particularly in rural, remote, and underserved communities. Keeping your documents current, your provincial licences active, and your availability updated allows us to present you to clients as soon as new opportunities arise, giving you the best chance of securing the assignment that's right for you.

If you or a loved one needs extra support to remain safe, comfortable, and independent at home, 911 Nurses Home Care is here to help. Whether you require short-term assistance following a hospital stay or ongoing support with daily living, our compassionate team works with you to create a personalized care plan that reflects your unique needs, preferences, and goals.

Your journey begins with an initial Care Assessment, completed by one of our experienced Home Care Managers or Care Coordinators. During this assessment, we take the time to understand your health needs, daily routines, personal preferences, and the outcomes you hope to achieve. Together, we develop a customized care plan designed to promote independence, enhance quality of life, and provide peace of mind for you and your family.

Based on your care plan, we carefully match you with a Personal Support Worker (PSW) or Companion whose skills, experience, and personality are the best fit for your needs. We believe that building a trusting relationship between clients and caregivers is an essential part of providing exceptional care.

Our commitment doesn't end once care begins. We provide ongoing care oversight and quality assurance through regular follow-ups to ensure your care continues to meet your evolving needs. This includes:

  • A 24-hour follow-up after services begin to ensure everything is going smoothly.
  • Regular care reviews during the first few weeks to answer questions, address concerns, and make any necessary adjustments.
  • Monthly care reviews with both the client and caregiver to monitor progress, evaluate goals, and update the care plan as needed.

Should your needs change, we'll work with you to modify your care plan so it continues to support your health, safety, and independence.

Our Care Coordinators are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to urgent questions or unexpected situations. If your regular caregiver is unable to attend a scheduled visit due to illness or an emergency, we maintain a pool of qualified backup caregivers and will make every effort to arrange alternate coverage, helping to minimize disruptions to your care.

At 911 Nurses Home Care, our goal is simple: to deliver compassionate, reliable, and person-centered care that allows you or your loved one to live safely and confidently at home, with the support of a dedicated team every step of the way.
